We found this little critter and weren't sure if it was a mantis, or a stick bug. Turns out it is a 'stick mantis'! ;)

 Too much fun!

Mango ate half a bag of chicken feed and we had to take him to the vet. Thankfully he was okay!

 Gabriel on a 'new' scooter that Daddy found on the bottom of a pool. Of course the motor no longer runs, but Gabriel likes it anyway ;)

Found some cool books in the 99 cent bin at Hastings! :)

 And we came across this in the parking lot one day...

Daddy got him a new BB gun!

He cut off the end so it's not too big for him.

First day of second grade (August 13th)!

 Homeschool with breakfast, PJs and messy hair...

 And we got him a 4-wheeler (for cheap)...so spoiled! ;)

Our 2nd grade curriculum

I thought I'd share what we have picked out for the coming homeschool year (2nd grade)! Click on the pictures of the books for more information.

Bible: daily Bible readings and Sally Michael's God's Names, Promises and Providence. Extras are God Made All Things (memorizing Bible verses) and God's Amazing Creatures & Me (devotional)

  

 

  

 

English: Christian Light Publications and Pentime for extra handwriting practice.

 

  

Math:  Teaching Textbooks 3 and supplement with Life of Fred

 

 

Science: ACSI Purposeful Design Science 1 + 2, Cool Science Experiments (we will try to find one with the subjects that we study, about once a week) and Christian Liberty Nature Readers for additional reading and learning about animals.

 

 

 

History: Christian Liberty Press' Our Nation Under God, American Pioneers and Patriots and History Stories for Children.

   

Geography: Understanding Geography 3 + 4, Geography from A to Z and Children Just Like Me. 

 

 

 

We will start second grade in a couple of months, I can't wait! I'm most excited about Science and Geography. Let's hope Gabriel is as excited as I am ;)
